Wine Urban Red - Producer Štampar, Međimurje

Urban red wine, vintage 2018, produced by Štampar winery from Međimurje in the hilly regions of Croatia, is a subtle combination of Gamay (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%). This wine is characterized by a deep dark red color with a violet reflection.

The taste of Urban Red wine is dry, and its fruity aroma with pronounced spicy notes gives it a lively and juicy characteristic. The fragrance intertwines herbal notes such as moss with ripe cherries and hints of dark chocolate, all spiced with a light note of smoke. The taste is very lively and pleasant, ending with a slight bitterness. Acids are slightly expressed, fruitiness has a strong emphasis, and the finish is pleasantly bitter.

The wine production process includes mulling and pressing of grapes, maceration for 15 days with alcoholic and lactic acid fermentation. After that, the wine matures for 1 year in wooden barrels, 80% in large wooden barrels and 20% in barrique barrels. The final product has 11.5% alcohol, 3.9 g/l residual sugar and 6.2 g/l total acid.

Urban Red is distinguished by its modern style and dynamic character. It is ideal with various meat specialties such as roast beef, duck and goose, game and hard and well-ripened cheeses. It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 14-16°C.
